Creating Body-Positive Connections through Ethical Porn

From the first stages of puberty until the moment we’re too old to care, women around the world experience self-awareness and often self-consciousness about their bodies. The media dictates fashion trends, celebrities are celebrated for their beauty standards, and even our local communities and religious organizations tell us how we should look to be the “ideal woman.”

We could talk about strengthening our minds and our resolve to withstand peer pressure, or we could focus on fostering acceptance for body positivity among those who try to dictate our appearance. Instead of accepting the idea that it’s okay to dictate what beauty looks like, let’s embrace beauty in every form, regardless of what someone finds attractive

One of the initial stepping stones in this journey is creating body positivity in ethical porn videos, showing that we can be comfortable in our own skin while appealing to the right audience. The questions we should be asking aren’t “What constitutes beauty?” but rather, “How do we show acceptance of all forms of beauty?

Confidence is Key

Being comfortable and confident in your own body is one of the most difficult feelings to learn. We all have our own idea of what is beautiful and attractive in a person, and many of us strive to achieve this attractiveness. We have to remember that not everyone enjoys all body types. A BBW might be considered “too thick” by one person and “extra padding to enjoy” by another. An athletic body type could be seen as “too skinny” to some, but “strong enough to captivate fantasies” to others.

In porn, it’s important to represent all body types and uplift models by making them feel accepted and desired. The audience will appreciate this diversity. Everyone has unique preferences, and there’s a place for all body types to be celebrated and enjoyed.

No matter what the body type, we need to proudly flaunt it and let society know that we are confident in our skin, no matter what shape or size our skin may be.

Recognize Differences

Variations in body types and fetishes exist, and it’s important to recognize and respect them all, even those we might not personally prefer. Many people never outgrow the need to argue with someone who has a different opinion, even when that opinion is inconsequential to their own lives. Just because Mark hates chocolate chip cookies and Todd loves them, this doesn’t mean their friendship is over or a war needs to take place to determine who is “right” in the cookie saga.

Recognize that there are different body types, different attributes, different kinks and fetishes, and that everyone has their own tastes. It’s okay to mention the differences and talk about them, as well as your own varying preferences, as long as we aren’t fighting about whose opinion is “right”. Personal taste is personal and if it doesn’t harm others, there’s no reason to be offended.

Mix It Up

Ethical companies that create adult content have the opportunity to expose society to diverse tastes and fetishes by showcasing different body types in porn. From large to petite, tall to short, muscular to curvy, it’s important to vary the body types and present them in a sensual, confident light.

Start the Discussion

When we discuss ethical porn, as a whole, we have a frank, open discussion about how we can better the world around us by establishing ethical, consensual situations. By recognizing and including body-positive markets, we create a more inclusive and ethical atmosphere that reaches a wider audience.

It comes down to starting the conversation and not being afraid to say, “I’m not into that, but I know other people are. Beauty is different for everyone, and you’re beautiful, sexy, attractive, desirable, and everything in between.” Talk to your friends and start the discussion about creating a confident, body-positive world for the next generation.
