Chelsea Poe — Why Ethical Porn?

It’s important to have an open dialog.

As a performer/filmmaker I try to put myself in the performer’s position when I’m in the filmmaker position and think about their experience from the moment they step on set until the day the finished film is in their hands.

I believe a ethical set needs to have a temperature adjustable room (nothing is worse than trying to perform in a freezing room), multiple options for safer sex supplies, a small food table, enemas, water and basically trying to make the uncomfortable thing that is often a porn set as comfortable as possible because happy performers are the best performers.

It’s important to have a open dialog with performers mid-scene, consent has to be first and foremost on a porn set. My policy is at any point at performer can say “Cut” and the scene will stop.

In post-production, it’s important to have an open dialog about marketing that respects the performers’ identities and what they wanted out of the project.
